No Gold Medal This Time For Greene

Olympic gold medalist Maurice Greene won’t be sprinting to the semi-finals of Dancing With the Stars.

Greene- who’s won several World Championships and Olympic medals- didn’t get the viewer support this week, as he and partner Cheryl Burke were eliminated from the ABC competition tonight.

The results weren’t too surprising, as Greene had tied Cody Linley for lowest judges’ score last night. However, Linley possibly may have survived in part because of Julianne Hough. During the results show, Hough returned from a two-week hiatus and danced an invigorating Jive with brother Derek, and, now, thanks to viewer input, she will return next week to compete again with Linley.

However, it’s only a matter of time before the two overall best couples left dancing are Brooke Burke/Derek Hough and Warren Sapp/Kym Johnson. Lance Bass and Linley- as strong partners as they possess- simply can’t compete with Burke and Sapp.

But with part of the decision-making left to viewers, who knows what kind of voting injustice may occur? After all, many- including judge Carrie Ann Inaba- complained how Cloris Leachman remained in the competition, when Toni Braxton had been voted off.

When the public is given the opportunity to vote, thewre’s not much use in complaining about the results. We’ve seen heinous outcomes on FOX’s American Idol, and we’re bound to see some on Dancing With the Stars.

At least we can rest assured that last week’s voting to determine the next White House resident saw the proper and just result…
